Joe Pyfer is a rising contender in the middleweight division who is undefeated in the UFC. Known for his knockout power, he has even broken the record set by Francis Ngannou in a punching machine. Pyer will headline his first event at UFC Vegas 86, the upcoming UFC Fight Night. Recently, a video of Pyfer’s fight went viral on social media, showcasing Pyfer’s ferocious power.
It was one of Pyfer’s amateur MMA fights that went viral. Interestingly, the fight was his amateur MMA debut. Pyfer knocked out Christopher Alan in the first round of the bout. Alan’s head bounced off the canvas after he landed on the canvas due to Pyfer’s vicious right hand. How Pyfer set up the shot was very intelligent. Alan was in the Southpaw stance, and Pyfer blasted an inside leg kick on Alan’s lead leg. This made Alan switch stances due to the pain. At this moment, Pyfer launched his nuclear right hand, which has since found many more victims in MMA.
After the win against Alan, Pyfer competed four more times in MMA and finished his amateur career with a 4-1 record. Pyfer’s initial two amateur bouts were under XCC, and he went 1-1 there. His final three amateur bouts were with Art of Fighting Cage Fighting, where he went 3-0 with all finishes: two KO/TKO and a submission.
Pyfer’s upcoming opponent, Jack Hermannson, has alternated wins and losses in his past eight fights. He is coming off a loss and has not competed since that loss to Roman Dolidze in December of 2022. A victory would put Pyfer in the top 10 of the rankings.
Fight fans react to Joe Pyfer’s brutal knockout victory on his amateur MMA debut
Joe Pyfer had tough luck before the UFC signed him. Coming from an abusive household, Pyfer had suicidal thoughts. However, his urge to be in the UFC motivated him. His first attempt to get into the UFC backfired as he lost due to an elbow injury. Pyfer dislocated his elbow on the Dana White Contender Series. However, he came back stronger after two years and bagged a UFC contract.
Preluding his fight with Jack Hermansson, the video of his vicious KO on his amateur MMA debut went viral on social media. See how the fight fans reacted to the video below.
Pyfer is now 3-0 in the UFC with three finishes and two post-fight bonuses. Fans highly anticipate his fight with the highly-ranked Hermansson. UFC welterweight Sean Brady revealed on Joe Rogan Experience that Pyfer is the hardest puncher he has ever trained with.
