CALDWELL, Idaho (KBOI-TV) — Tucked in the garage at Metro Community Services you'll find workers getting their float ready for the night Treasure Valley Night Light Holiday Parade.
“We start planning in August once we know what the theme is and start building in October because we find that something will go wrong that you need to have time to fix,” said float designer Jim Titmus.
Timus heads up the project and he's personally invested.
“I have enjoyed decorating most of my life in fact half the decorations that would normally be on my house are on the float so it's fun,” Titmus said.
You'll find all sorts of lights, snowflakes, a Christmas tree and a snowman mounted to a giant Radio Flyer.
“One of our employees who's retired... probably has more time on his hands than he should so he turned a Chevrolet into this Radio Flyer and he's letting us use it for the tow vehicle. He's a hoot and if you met him you'd know why he did it.,” said Titmus.
It takes lights of all kinds to decorate the float and there are about ten thousand of them. At this point Jim and his crew are about done stringing the lights. With just two days until the parade they got the sound system working today.
“It's really fun... If you haven't been to the Night Light Parade you ought to come because it's a lot more fun than you could possibly guess,” Titmus said.
The Caldwell Chamber of Commerce organizes the Night Light Holiday Parade. This year they have 89 floats lined up to hit the street this Saturday night. The parade starts on Blaine Street at Georgia Avenue and runs to 5th Avenue.
