Eagle Mayor Brad Pike spoke with KBOI's Nate Shelman on the City's controversial resolution to illegal immigrants.

The illegal immigration resolution, resolution 24-07 was presented to the City by a citizen of Eagle a few months ago, was reviewed by the City's attorney, was revised by a council member, and was passed on July 9.

The resolution is a statement not a City code or ordinance, according to Mayor Pike. He says "It is a statement that we feel that we do not want our taxpayers to pay any of their hard-earned money to any illegal forms of any type." Mayor Pike says "Eagle is not a Sanctuary City."

Many people from the Hispanic community in the Treasure Valley shared their disappointment with the City of Eagle and the resolution.

Mayor Pike says "If you are here legally, welcome." The resolution is directed at those who are here illegally.
